About the ACEC-Ontario Women’s Network

Networks are a people-focused program for employees of ACEC-Ontario member firms. The community-oriented ethos of Networks exists to improve member engagement opportunities and member firm employee relations through the enhancement of business networks, expansion of member-peer relations and increased professional and leadership skill development. As such, Networks are an opportunity for engagement that creates value for ACEC-Ontario member firms. 

Our Networks are an opportunity for member employees to rally together to discuss common industry trends and issues with peers in a particular segment of the ACEC-Ontario membership. Networks provide an opportunity for member employees to benefit professionally while giving back to the industry by discussing and offering solutions to common industry concerns

The ACEC-Ontario Women in STEM Network (Women’s Network) is a space for both women identifying employees of ACEC-Ontario member firms and their allies to join and discuss common trends that women identifying employees experience within the consulting engineering industry. In particular, the Women’s Network has a particular focus on addressing the high attrition rates of women-identifying employees within the industry. 

About the Women’s Network Working Group

The WN Working Group will join to create a new publication from ACEC-Ontario for women-identifying employees and their allies within the industry. The publication will highlight leaders and emerging leaders within the industry, promote available resources and events, share inspiration, knowledge and research. The objectives of the publication are to:

  • Increase the profile of women in STEM 
  • To continually share valuable, relevant information for ACEC-Ontario member employees  
  • Strengthen and support a stronger community within the consulting engineering industry for women identifying employees 

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Attend virtual working group meetings throughout the year
  • Collect and create content for the publication
  • Work collaboratively with industry stakeholders and ACEC-Ontario member peers for content creation

Volunteer Commitment:

  • Attend content planning meetings (3 times a year, approximately 1-2 hrs each)
  • Attend other meetings to support content creation and review, as needed
  • Minimum 1 year commitment required


  • Positively enhance and promote the profile of women in the industry
  • Connect and network with other peers in the industry
  • Gain valuable skills related to marketing and communications projects and content creation
  • Liaise with other stakeholders within the industry
  • Eligible to receive recognition and benefits granted to ACEC-Ontario volunteers

Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Must be an employee of an ACEC-Ontario member firm
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 1 year (3 issues)
