Contract Administration: Monday, January 16 to Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Holiday Inn Toronto Airport East.
Highway Construction Inspection: Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Holiday Inn Toronto Airport East.
Road Construction Contract Administration Recertification: Wednesday, January 18, 2023 OR Wednesday, March 1, 2023 held virtually, via Zoom.
ACEC-Ontario is the official program provider of Highway Construction Inspection, Contract Administration, and Road Construction Contract Administration recertification courses, on behalf of The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and MTO for the Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) designation.
About Highway Construction Inspection
UPDATED EXAM POLICY
Upon successful completion of the final exam, participants will be issued a certificate. Final exam is open book and participants will need a 70% to pass. If participants do not obtain a 70%, they will be eligible for one rewrite exam. The fee to rewrite an exam is $500 + HST*. Exam rewrite will be virtual, and the dates will be posted when registration opens for the course.
“Mini quizzes” will be administered daily, these quizzes are a useful tool to help participants prepare for the final exam. These daily quizzes do not count toward the participants final exam or mark. The mini quizzes will also be handed to the instructors each day so they can determine if participants are grasping the content and are prepared for the exam.
*Rewrite fee covers the cost of the instructor to proctor and mark exam.
This course is intended for personnel at the junior inspector level, with 1-2 years of field experience, who want to advance to the senior inspector level or for contract administration personnel who wish to enhance their understanding of the contract inspection and administration process. Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) construction personnel with responsibilities for consultant assignments will also benefit from this course. With appropriate field experience, this course is approved to meet part of the criteria of the MTO/OACETT Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) designation. This course is a prerequisite for Contract Administration course.

About Road Construction Contract Administration Recertification Course
This course is designed to update consulting engineering personnel on changes in policies and procedures, as well as administration and inspection procedural clarifications relevant to MTO Contract Administration Assignment. This course is also relevant for MTO personnel with responsibilities for consultant assignments and contractors.
This course is aimed at road construction contract administrators and is a requirement to maintain your RCCA designation. All OACETT members with the RCCA designation are required to complete the Road Construction Contract Administrator Recertification course every three years.

Who should be signing up for MTO courses?
MTO courses are for a range of audiences. Junior Inspectors, with 1-2 years of field experience are able to register for Highways Construction Inspection (HCI). In addition, Contract Administrators and MTO personnel with responsibilities for consultant assignments are encouraged to further their skills through this training. Consulting Engineers that are preparing for the role of Contract Administrator are also recommended to enroll.
Can I take Contract Administration before I take Highway Construction Inspection?
Anyone pursuing their OACETT road designation must take the Highway Construction Inspection course before they are able to take the Contract Administration course. If you are not pursing the OACETT road construction designation, you are eligible to take both courses in the same year.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
What is included in my registration fee?
During the pandemic courses were only offered online. During this time registration covers the cost of materials and the course.
The in-person course registration fee includes: the course and materials, hot breakfast and lunch, an AM and PM snack, and parking. All overnight accommodations and transportation to the and from the course are at the cost of the participant.
When are courses held?
Dates are still to be determined for the 2023 programs.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- Courses must be paid in full. Failure to submit payment will result in the registration being cancelled, as waiting lists are maintained.
- Cancellations received in writing, more than 10 business days prior to the start of the course will be assessed a $100.00 cancellation fee (per person, per course). Please notify communications@acecontario.ca of cancellations.
- Cancellations received less than 10 business days prior to the start of the course are non-refundable. Refunds will not be given if the registrant fails to attend any part of the course.
- Qualified substitutions are allowed within the same course and date without incurring a cancellation fee. Please notify communications@acecontario.ca of substitution notice prior to the start of the course.
